This research focuses on narrated accounts of memories of childhood and youth in the GDR. Using biographical-narrative interviews conducted with 50 people who grew up in the GDR, the analysis examines how these individuals look back on their experiences in educational institutions, as well as how they position themselves within a socio-political discourse surrounding the GDR.
