Educational film "Development of the Bean" (1977)

The soundless film published by the Academy of Pedagogical Sciences (Akademie der Pädagogischen Wissenschaften, APW) of the GDR combines documentary images, studio recordings and labelled schematic representations. In addition to agricultural landscapes, explicitly scientific scenarios are shown. The film was intended for biology lessons in grades five and nine.

In addition to agricultural landscapes, scientific scenarios are also shown. The film uses cinematic effects such as time-lapse photography to show the growth of plants or the movement of their leaves. The studio shots also allow a look beneath the earth's surface at the growth of the roots. The film also documents bean plants in their geometric order in the field. Images of harvesting work finally place the growth of the bean in the context of agricultural use.
