Supplementary booklet to the educational film "Development of the Bean" (1979)

For every educational film produced in the GDR, such a supplementary booklet was published in a handy size and color-coded by media and school type to simplify its assignment. The third section selected here is called "Didactic and Methodological Information for Using the Film in Class" (Didaktische-methodische Hinweise für den Einsatz des Films im Unterricht, pp. 14-19) from the supplementary booklet to the film "Development of the Bean" (Entwicklung der Bohne) (1979) written by D. Neupert of Potsdam University.

Werner Hortschansky, the first director of the German Central Institute for Teaching Materials until the 1960s and decisive for the development of educational films in the GDR, called on the teachers of the GDR in 1951:

"Anyone who wants to use film in class without working through its supplementary booklet should leave it alone; it will not provide the help for their work that is needed. It is a fallacy to believe that an advanced tool alone will ensure success; it must also be used correctly and carefully integrated into the lesson." (Hortschansky, 1951, p.18)
